Levi Brown and David Johnson Could Both Be Lost For the Season

As nice as it was to see the Steelers win their first regular season game of the 2013 campaign, the victory did not come without a price. In fact, two of Pittsburgh’s significant contributors on the offensive side of the ball might be lost for the rest of the year according to ESPN.com’s Scott Brown:
Levi Brown injured the same triceps he tore last year and David Johnson dislocated his left wrist.

The loss of Levi Brown is particularly huge, especially since the team traded for him to be their stop-gap solution at left tackle. With the second injury to the same triceps in two years, I for one question Brown’s long-term durability and so should Pittsburgh’s front office when the regular season comes to a close.
With the team’s brass likely to take a left tackle high in the 2014 NFL Draft next May, Brown’s career with the team could be finished before it even began.
David Johnson’s wrist injury is a huge blow to the Steelers as well, and the team is already razor-thin at the tight end position to begin with.
I for one am sad to see Johnson sidelined, especially since he was lost for the entirety of last season with an ACL tear. Without Johnson, Pittsburgh will have to rely on David Paulson and Michael Palmer as the backups behind Heath Miller until Matt Spaeth returns in a few weeks.
