Steelers Injury News, Markus Wheaton Ruled Out for Sunday

Teresa Varley of Steelers.com provided us with some injury news earlier today regarding the status of two starters and one key reserve.
According to Varley, both outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley and defensive end Brett Keisel will be sidelined and limited in the early portion of this week due to their respective injuries.
Keisel is apparently dealing with a “muscle injury” which probably has to do with the rib injury he sustained during the middle of Pittsburgh’s 19-6 win over New York last Sunday. “The Beard’s” ribs forced him to the sidelines for most of the game, and it will be interesting to see how effective he can play in practice over the coming week.
Woodley’s “knee inflammation” is also something to keep an eye on, especially since he has been the team’s most productive pass-rusher this year. Woodley has tallied 4.0 sacks through the Steelers’ first five games, and losing him or him being limited would be a huge blow to the linebacker corps before the team’s game against the Ravens this Sunday.
While Woodley and Keisel could potentially play this Sunday, the same cannot be said for rookie wide receiver Markus Wheaton.
The wide receiver’s broken finger and subsequent surgery will sideline him for a second consecutive game, and likely force Derek Moye back into the lineup once again as well. Hopefully this extended time off will benefit the former Oregon State Beaver, and it will also give him time to regain the play-making form he illustrated to “Steeler Nation” during the preseason.
