Offensive Line Looking Like Banged-Up Mess Once Again

"On the injury front Ramon Foster sustained a concussion early on and was unable to return, Guy Whimper has a left knee injury that needs to be and will be evaluated. David DeCastro has a right ankle injury that needs to be and will be evaluated.-Mike Tomlin ("

Already a banged-up disaster, Pittsburgh’s offensive line could be in even more trouble with the injuries sustained by three players on Sunday afternoon.

Although the status of the team’s starting left guard, starting right guard, and one of their top backups are not known at the moment, the fact that those three could miss chunks of time does not bode well for Pittsburgh’s already makeshift unit.

While Foster could return from his concussion this weekend, the fact that Whimper’s injury looked ugly and DeCastro missed a large amount of time due to his ankle does not bode well for the already thin offensive line.

Backups Mike Adams and Cody Wallace will likely have to pick up the slack against New England if any of these players are forced to the sidelines, and both players were pressed into duty against the Raiders yesterday.

I for one would not be shocked to see Pittsburgh promoting Joe Long from the practice squad at some point this week. In addition, I wouldn’t put it past the front office to try to ink another backup with the cap space they cleared when they restructured Ike Taylor’s contract.

For now though, all we can do is hope that all three can recover from their respective injuries and are able to get back in the lineup as quickly as possible.
