90 minutes prior to kickoff, the Steelers and Browns inactives were announced for their AFC North clash. The usual culprits are inactives are without a helmet once again, but there are a few worth noting for the Steelers.
Steelers:
LB LaMarr Woodley
DE Brett Keisel
DB Shamarko Thomas
QB Landry Jones
WR Derrick Moye
TE Richard Gordon
LB Stevenson Sylvester
Browns:
OT Martin Wallace
OG Garrett Gilkey
OT Reid Fragel
DL Armonty Bryant
TE MarQueis Gray
OL Patrick Lewis
LB Craig Robertson
Analysis:
Last week against the Lions, the Steelers were able to execute the “next man up” motto. Once again this week, the Steelers will once again need Jason Worilds and Ziggy Hood to step up, with Keisel and Woodley inactive. Last week, Ziggy Hood stepped up in a big way for the injured Brett Keisel, with 5 total tackles, and one sack. This sack happened to seal the victory for the Steelers.
Flipping to the left side, Jason Worilds also had a solid showing, as he registered eight total tackles and one sack. Stepping in for LaMarr Woodley once again, the Steelers need an outing like this from the 4th year linebacker out of Virginia Tech.
After leaving the Lions game with a foot injury, Emmanuel Sanders is active a week later, and he figures to be a big part of the offense with Antonio Brown being covered by elite cover corner Joe Haden.
As it was announced earlier this week, both Shamarko Thomas and Stevenson Sylvester are inactive. Thomas was injured against the Bills, and Sylvester was injured last week during special teams. Filling in for Thomas is Will Allen who had the game winning interception against the Lions. Sylvester will be replaced by Kion Wilson, who lost his starting spot to rookie 6th round pick Vince Williams.
As usual, Landry Jones, Richard Gordon are inactive, with Derek Moye a healthy scratch.
Here’s to good health, as the Steelers will need their starters back to a season defining game against the Ravens on Thanksgiving.
