NPC’s Week 14 NFL Picks
By Kim Myers
Think you can pick winners better than the NPC staff?
Here we are at the start of the final quarter of the 2013 NFL season. Playoff chances will be won and lost within the next four weeks. Here at Nice Pick Cowher, we are not only a bunch of nerds who follow the Pittsburgh Steelers tirelessly, but we are also a bunch of nerds who follow the NFL tirelessly. Therefore we put our money (or maybe just pride) where our mouths are and make picks on every NFL game each week. We don’t mess around with point spreads or anything like that. Just straight up picks.
While the Steelers don’t entirely control their own playoff destiny after falling to Baltimore last week, the remainder of the schedule fell in their favor as they get to meet one of the half dozen AFC teams this week who stand in their way of that final playoff spot. Mike Wallace makes his return to Heinz Field in teal and white touting his big paycheck but still dropping passes as if he’s allergic to the ball. The game will most likely be a battle of make-shift offensive lines as the Steelers had to piece together some working parts since back-up center Fernando Velasco was placed on IR earlier in the week. Whichever quarterback stays upright the longest gives his team the best chance on Sunday.
Seattle can’t celebrate their victory over the Saints for too long as they’ll travel to San Francisco for the 49ers to try to knock them off their NFC pedestal. Carolina and the Saints will also battle for top billing in the NFC South. Seven teams can clinch a playoff spot this weekend including Seattle, New Orleans, Carolina, Denver, Kansas City, Indianapolis, and New England.
Last week Craig, Jim and I all tied for the victory with 12 winners. I have rightfully regained the overall lead and I don’t intend to lose it. Our reader participant, Jenn, also had 12 winners of her own. Way to go Jenn!
Feel free to make picks of your own in the comments section, or take the opportunity to heckle and criticize our opinions if that’s your deal. Check back next week to see how I expand my overall lead and reaffirm my football picks supremacy over the rest of the staff. Make your picks or root for your favorite NPC staffer! Here we go Steelers!
