Many were intrigued when the Pittsburgh Steelers added running back Ray Graham to their practice squad last month. Armed with special teams experience and the potential to contribute as a running back, I figured that the Steelers’ brass might give Graham a chance to compete for a roster spot next season.

Unfortunately, it looks like Graham’s tenure with the Steelers is finished according to the team’s communications coordinator Burt Lauten:

With only four outside linebackers on their roster, the move to sign Hall Davis as an insurance policy on their practice squad makes sense from a depth perspective for the Steelers.

A fifth round pick out of Louisiana-Lafayette by the St. Louis Rams in 2010, the defensive end/outside linebacker ‘tweener (6’4″ 270 lbs.) has played sparingly at the professional level (two games last year) since he entered the league.

A short-term member of the Rams, Washington Redskins, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders and most recently the Dallas Cowboys, Davis will be looking to find a home in his seventh professional stop in Pittsburgh.
