Scott Brown of ESPN.com shared some Pittsburgh Steelers related injury news earlier this afternoon via Twitter:

The knee injuries sustained by Terence Garvin and Emmanuel Sanders during last weekend’s win over Green Bay appear to be serious enough to keep the linebacker and wide receiver sidelined for the regular season finale. Jason Worilds’ abdomen injury also prevented him from practicing today, and Pittsburgh’s defense can ill afford to lose their team-leader in sacks for such an important game.

Thankfully for the Steelers, it looks like outside linebacker Jarvis Jones and defensive end Brett Keisel could provide some reinforcements on the defensive side of the ball. Moreover, backup wide receiver Markus Wheaton could rise up the depth chart in spite of his recent finger injury.

David DeCastro has fought off plenty of bumps and bruises throughout this season and has only missed one game due to an ankle injury. Unfortunately, a back issue prevented the starting right guard from suiting up for practice this afternoon after he had been declared a limited participant on Wednesday.

As per usual, Troy Polamalu and Heath Miller practiced today although they were listed on the team’s official injury report due to ‘non-injury related’ issues. Miller and Polamalu have been on the injury reports all season for those ‘non-injury related’ issues, and Pittsburgh’s coaching staff has been great about keeping their veterans fresh with lighter work throughout the 2013 campaign.
