Bouchette: No Deadline on Decisions About Coaching Staff

As usual, Mike Tomlin held his weekly press conference earlier today. When Pittsburgh’s head coach was asked about when decisions would be made regarding the coaching staff, Tomlin replied the following according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

Tomlin’s silence on the matter comes as no surprise to me. Moreover, it does not shock me that Pittsburgh’s front office will take plenty of time when it comes to evaluating members of their coaching staff like Todd Haley and Dick LeBeau.

The play of the Steelers down the stretch will probably convince the front office that Haley deserves, like it or not, another year to prove himself. Plus, I’m sure that LeBeau will receive all the time he needs, like it or not, to evaluate whether or not he wants to return for another season as the defensive coordinator.

In my humble opinion, the status quo will remain intact for 2014. As I will explain later this evening however, maintaining the status quo might not be in the best interests for this franchise.
