Now that the 2013 regular season is finished, it is time to focus on free agency and the 2014 NFL Draft .

After the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers were royally fisted by Roger Goodell, Bill Leavy and his crew yesterday, the Steelers will now be forced to endure a long and cold winter.

Because the Steelers missed the postseason for the second consecutive year, their 2014 NFL Draft position was solidified the second Chase Daniel’s final overtime pass fluttered to the ground at Jack Murphy Stadium (and yes, I will always refer to that facility as such).

Pittsburgh is now locked into the 15th overall spot in the 2014 NFL Draft’s first round. Thankfully, they should still be in line to go in a number of different directions at that particular juncture.

The Steelers have glaring needs at so many different spots on their team it is almost laughable.

On offense, Pittsburgh could stand to use a long-term option at left tackle, a tight end to pair with Heath Miller and a play-making wide receiver to take over for Emmanuel Sanders and possibly Jerricho Cotchery. It would also help if they could draft a competent coordinator, but I digress.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Steelers are in desperate need of help at the cornerback position. In addition, this team could use depth at free safety, nose tackle and even inside linebacker as well.

So stay interested and stay alert during the upcoming offseason, Steeler Nation. NPC will feature plenty of draft coverage over the next four months, and we will try to keep you as informed as possible as the offseason progresses.
