Let’s recap on some of this weeks news regarding the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A Perfect Fit

Some news that came out last week was that Pittsburgh intend to draft a tall wide receiver in this years draft. They are so certain about it that they even told Ben Roethlisberger their little secret, which is no longer a secret. According to Mike Huguenin from NFL.com , NFL Media draft analyst says that Mike Evans of Texas A&M would be a “perfect fit”. Another name Davis states would be be a good fit is Kelvin Benjamin, someone I have had falling to the Steelers all offseason long. I don’t like the Mike Evans pick in the first round, but I really like the Kelvin Benjamin pick in the second.

Kelvin Beachum the Stabilizer

Chris Wesseling of NFL.com wrote an article  recently on the comments made by Kevin Colbert regarding Kelvin Beachum’s emergence at left tackler. To sum it up, Colbert basically stated that Beachum stabilized the offensive line. The unit was terrible before he got there, they became a solid line when arrived. Listening to these comments tells me that Beachum has proven that he is their best option at left tackle and will start the offseason as the starter. Ultimately, it is his job to lose at this point. Beachum is a great young man, someone the Steelers should be glad to have represent their organization and I hope he beats all odds and can stabilize the left tackle spot for many seasons to come.

Sanders testing Free Agency

This has pretty much been old news for a while, but Emmanuel Sanders is going to test free agency. Dave Bryan of Steelers Depot wrote about Kevin Colbert’s comments about Emmanuel Sanders return to the Steelers after the New England Patriots picked up his third round tender. Colbert stated that even though Sanders had a solid year, none of the offseason decisions were good enough considering the team went 8-8. We all know that Sanders is all but gone, and that isn’t such a bad thing. Although he did represent the organization with character since he arrived, he hasn’t had the production that many have envisioned and will command too much money for his productibility. I firmly believe that Pittsburgh is excited about Markus Wheaton as his successor and that  he can be the receiver many hoped Sanders could be.
