Steelers season goes all year long so whether we’re breaking down free agency signings, predicting the possible draft choices, or looking around for mentions of your Black & Gold we’ve got you covered. Here’s what’s being said about your Pittsburgh Steelers around the block.
Steelers Depth Still Work In Progress
Alan Robinson of the Trib explains that in spite of the many moves we’ve seen by the Steelers this offseason in free agency, the depth at many positions is still a work in progress. Kind of an obvious statement if you ask me; considering it’s the middle of April and all. Still it’s worth noting that this has been the most free agency action that has resulted in roster re-shuffling since Tomlin and Colbert have been together. Robinson points out that there still is no certifiable starting wide receiver to compliment Antonio Brown as well as the defensive line still has Ziggy Hood and Brett Keisel-sized holes in it that haven’t exactly been filled. Robinson explains the work he thinks that is still left to be done before the season kicks off in September as:
- Sorting out the D-line
- Drafting a cornerback
- Adding depth to the linebacking corps
- Settling the safety roles
- Adding to the special teams
- Finding O-line depth
Review of Steelers 2008 NFL Draft
Scott Brown of ESPN is reviewing the drafts of Steelers past to fill the time from now till draft weekend. He’s come to the Steelers draft of 2008 which included great hits like Rashard Mendenhall, Limas Sweed, and Ryan Mundy (Monday, if you’re Chris Collingsworth). Obviously, the draft gets an overall bad grade due to the fact that 5 years removed from it not a single player is still with the team but Brown makes note of the fact that the Steelers were widely praised at the time for their 2008 draft. It proves to show that you can’t always make an accurate grade on a draft immediately after it as well as you can’t always count on the ratings the players get in the draft to determine how they’re going to end up on the field. Hindsight is always 20/20.
Steelers are Franklin Regional Strong
The members of the Steelers who are currently working out at the South Side facilities posed with Franklin Regional t-shirts to show support for the local high school where a tragic incident involving a mass stabbing of students happened last week. Players like Cam Heyward and Maurkice Pouncey are Franklin Regional Strong.
