Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Adams Must Have Stabbed Self

At least that’s the only conclusion I can come up with after hearing and reading about Wednesday evening’s decision from the jury in the Mike Adams stabbing trial.

Dquay Means and Jerrell Whitlock were charged with attempted homicide.  Along with Michael Paranay, they were charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy and attempted robbery.  On Wednesday, they were cleared of all those charges.  The only thing they were found guilty of?  Two of them were found guilty of fleeing police/detectives.  That’s it.

The defense worked tirelessly in the arena of character defamation.  They poked holes in Adams testimony.  And, they tried to assign a motive for Adams, explaining that he had ‘a million reasons to lie.’  All that worked paid off, and they helped the jury completely forget the fact that despite the variations of testimony between Adams and the lone eye witness, Mike Adams was still stabbed in the gut.

I’m not lawyer or judge.  But I have sat on a jury before.  And, I’m pretty sure that even if someone begged to be shot by a gun, that doesn’t justify someone actually pulling the trigger…. unless you live in Florida.  But, this was in Pittsburgh and at the end of the day a man was stabbed.  Stabbed.  At the very least that’s aggravated assault, and the jury cleared the three men of that charge.

So how in the world did Adams end up in the hospital for four days, surgery to repair the stab wound, and missed a chunk of workouts in order to recover?  Did he stab himself?  That’s the only reasonable explanation for his injury if a jury just let these three guys walk with just a slap on the wrist. Of course.  That must be it.  Adams and his poor play at tackle for the Steelers gave him self esteem issues, and he made this all up for some attention.  Right?

It’s a pretty pathetic decision by the jury, and my mind just about hurts when I try and think about how the heck that all happened.

There’s been no comment reported by Adams or the Steelers.  The defense attorneys are certainly happy that they helped clear ‘innocent men.’  There’s no indication either if this whole series of events will have any impact with Adams’ future with the Steelers.
