Steelers Morning Huddle 6/3/2014

Steelers season goes all year long so whether we’re breaking down free agency signings, recapping the draft choices, or looking around for mentions of your Black & Gold we’ve got you covered. Here’s what’s being said about your Pittsburgh Steelers around the block.

Ike is a Steeler for life

Ike Taylor considers himself a lifelong member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, no matter how many more years he may have left. That’s what he told to Teresa Varley recently. During the offseason Taylor took a pay cut to finish the last year of his current contract with the Steelers. For him, it’s important to remain a Steeler for his entire career.

"“I always want to be a Steeler. I don’t want to ever put on another jersey. I want to retire a Pittsburgh Steeler. That is what it boils down. I call myself a Rooney, I call myself a LeBeau, and I call myself a Steeler. That is how I feel.” – Ike Taylor"

Steelers bringing nasty back

ESPN’s Jeffri Chadiha thinks the Steelers shouldn’t be happy with mediocrity, and he thinks that their offseason moves have proven that they aren’t happy and intend to change that. After consecutive 8-8 seasons the Steelers have taken a proactive approach to this offseason with changes like bringing in Mike Munchak to coach the offensive line and LeGarrette Blount to strengthen the running game. They’ve traded names like LaMarr Woodley, Larry Foote, and Ryan Clark for names like Ryan Shazier, Stephon Tuitt and Mike Mitchell. Chadiha thinks the Steelers’ changes this offseason might be enough to propel the team from the middle of the pack to the upper echelon of the AFC. What do you think?
