NPC’s Week 1 NFL Picks

Football season is finally here! There’s nothing like that optimism before the regular season starts. Everyone is 0-0 and anything can happen. All the rosters have been set and from this point on its just business. Here at Nice Pick Cowher, we are not only a bunch of nerds who follow the Pittsburgh Steelers tirelessly, but we are also a bunch of nerds who follow the NFL tirelessly. Therefore we put our money (or maybe just pride) where are mouths are and make picks on every NFL game each week. We don’t mess around with point spreads or anything like that. Just straight up picks.

The season starts off with an NFC showdown featuring the Super Bowl Champion Seahawks against the Green Bay Packers. Last we saw of the Seahawks they were thumping the Broncos in the Super Bowl so hopefully they’ve had enough rest because that can really tire a person out I’d bet. There are some divisional matchups to start the season with New Orleans traveling to Atlanta, the Bungles heading to Baltimore, and the Patriots traveling down south to take on the Dolphins. There’s a double-header on Monday night to wrap up the weekend featuring the Giants at Lions and Chargers at Arizona.

The Steelers open up at home with a divisional matchup of their own against the Cleveland Browns. I couldn’t think of a better introduction into the NFL for Johnny Manziel than visiting the Steelers where Dick LeBeau’s specialty is feasting on rookie quarterbacks. Here’s hoping he sees some action long enough to get the snot knocked out of him. A strong start for the Steelers isn’t just advisable, it’s damned near necessary.

Speaking of strong starts, I’m hoping my picks will catapult me into an early lead over the rest of these chumps so they know exactly who they’re dealing with.
