Pittsburgh Steelers Sprint To Keep Pace In AFC North

Talk about an immediate about face.  But, that’s just what the Pittsburgh Steelers did when they ran all over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday night.  If you didn’t feel good about that win, then something might be wrong with you…. or you’re name is Luke Kuechly.  The Steelers dominated the trenches on the offensive side of the football against a defense that was ranked #2 last season and had promises of being just as good this year.  The win will certainly give the team as well as Steeler Nation a little shot in the arm of good mojo going into the upcoming week and where they sit within the AFC North.

The win puts the Steelers at 2-1 overall, which is vastly different from where they were at this point last season (a horrid 0-3).  They are still 1-1 in the division, but now 1-0 against the NFC – a stat that will play an important role.  Why?  I truly believe that the AFC North (especially after seeing this past Sunday) will be a three horse race between the Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals.  There very well could be three teams with identical records and identical head to heads, and identical divisional records.  The win/loss against NFC teams could play a very important role in the tiebreakers come the end of the season.

The Bengals looked strong again against a very lost Titans squad.  They move to 3-0 and head into an early bye week before facing the Patriots and then the Panthers.  Rest up, the next few weeks after are going to be tough.  The Ravens and Browns went head to head in what turned out to be a very exciting and charged game.  Anyone NOT rooting for the Browns in the second half?  The Ravens squeaked away with the win after a game winning field goal as time expired.  The Ravens move to 2-1 and 2-1 in the division – the only team in the North to play three straight divisional opponents, while the Browns fall to 1-2 and 0-2 in the division.
