No Rest for the Winning

Officially, the Steelers have Mondays off of practicing. For days where the team plays on a Sunday, the Mondays after are used for film study, weight room, and rehab. You’d think that after the beat down the Steelers gave Baltimore on Sunday night, the Steelers facilities would be rather quiet on Monday morning. Not so says Teresa Varley, who caught up with Steelers linebacker Jason Worilds, who was going strong in the weight room on Monday morning, not taking it easy or sitting back and celebrating the victory whatsoever.

"“No rest at all. We celebrated our win from yesterday last night. It’s a new week and a new opponent. You get that good feeling and you want to keep it going. Guys have that feeling. They will do anything in their power to keep going on Sundays. Whenever they have the opportunity to make plays they will.” – Jason Worilds"

Terrell Suggs should expect a fine from the NFL

Terrell Suggs loves to be hated by Steelers fans. He takes it as a sign of respect instead of just the plain fact that we hate his face and would rather he get stuck in the locker room with a horrible case of explosive diarrhea than grace our field with his ugly mug once a year. As ESPN Steelers reporter Scott Brown points out, Suggs took that “villain” role he enjoys playing so much a bit too far with the third quarter lower body hit on LeGarrette Blount and, whether he insists he was just trying to make a play and not injure Blount, should be expecting a fine from the NFL this week. At this point you have to wonder if these fines are doing anything. How many times was James Harrison fined before he was suspended from a game and then ultimately forced to change his ways? I can’t see any other course of action the NFL should take with their “attention to player safety” than to sit Suggs out for a game so he realizes you can’t just say you’re trying to “take the big man down” when he’s already wrapped up by three players and it’s mere seconds from the play being whistled dead anyway. He dove at his legs intentionally and if the NFL really gives a crap about player safety, they should sit his ugly ass for the next game.

Steelers Report Card

Gerry Dulac of the PPG gives out a report card after every Steelers game and you can bet that this one was an overall A+. There’s no other grade than an A+ to give to our quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger for setting an NFL record for a consecutive 6-touchdown game. The running backs received a C but only due to their low rushing totals. The Ravens defense all but took Le’Veon Bell out of the ground game, but left him open for the 5-yard touchdown he caught. LeGarrette Blount provided some much needed “ground and pound” yards as well. The offensive line had to grade at a C- by allowing three sacks on Roethlisberger. The sacks were actually given up on consecutive plays but were the only sacks given up by the Steelers for the rest of the game. The special teams graded an F for allowing a 108-yard kick return touchdown to Jacoby Jones but definitely made up when a botched hold on an extra-point try by Brad Wing turned into a 2-point conversion to TE Matt Spaeth. The coaches received an overall A grade for not letting up on offense or defense. They kept the foot on the gas pedal on both sides of the ball and the Steelers came out victorious because of it.
