No doubt about it, Pittsburgh Steelers franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is scorching hot.
12 touchdowns and zero interceptions in two games (eight quarters).
He’s won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week two weeks straight while breaking an NFL record of throwing those 12 touchdowns in two games. He also took the FedEx Air Player of the Week as well back in Week 8, and he should take it for this past week as well. There are no signs of Big Ben slowing down, and as long as Haley doesn’t go back to his old playbook that had this offense in a sad state and part of a 3-3 team just three weeks ago, Roethlisberger could very well torch the hapless Jets next on Sunday. It’s awesome to see unfold, and I for one cannot wait to see what happens.
But, can he three-peat these MVP’like performances? The Jets rank middle of the road in passing defense this season. Their run defense is a little better, and if they can hold Bell to under a 3 YPC average, Big Ben could be throwing the rock a lot more. The Jets a lost and their pedestrian offense puts a ton or pressure on a defense that is already struggling.
All signs are pointing in a favorable direction that Roethlisberger will have another big game. But how big? Three touchdowns? Four? Five? 300+ yards? How about 400 or even close to his 522 he threw two weeks ago against the Colts? Will the Steelers habit of falling into trap games prevent him from engaging beast mode?
I want to hear from you, Steeler Nation. Do you think Ben will have as big a game as he’s been having the last two weeks? Lay some stats in the comments section after you vote.
