Remember when Rogeez got all misty-eyed on TV and said that Ray Rice’s account of what happened in that Atlantic City elevator was “ambiguous”? Well it seems that this appeal trial that’s being heard by a former U.S. District Judge to determine if the NFL was warranted in indefinitely suspending Ray Rice after they had only initially suspended him for two games could prove Goodell to be a big, fat liar. Reports by ESPN’s Outside the Lines state that the testimony of Rice, his wife, and Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome were all consistent with the story that Rice was forthcoming that he cold-cocked his then-fiancé in that elevator when he initially met with league officials. Rice and the NFLPA are arguing that the indefinite suspension of Rice was a violation of their labor laws by saying he was essentially punished twice for the same offense. While there’s nothing that could get him back on the Ravens roster at this point because they’ve already terminated his contract, it seems likely that Rice will be reinstated when this court case is all over. Whether a team would consider picking him up after that point, is another story. What happens to Rogeez and his inability to keep lying his way out of this mess, also remains to be seen.
