The Steelers are playoff bound, which is a gift far beyond than what most of us could have hoped for with a team that has struggled the way this team has for the last three seasons.
It’s that time of year again when we briefly turn the lens away from football, away from sports and other trivial things, and focus on the things that matter most to us. Peace, love, hope, and family.
It is a time for us to reflect on those four things and recognize that there are those out there who are lacking in one… sadly more. It is a time for us to do a little good in this crazy and sometimes upside down world.
So amongst the presents, cookies, eggnog, and ham (if those things are part of your traditions), take a moment and give thanks. Maybe call your Aunt who you haven’t spoken to in years for one reason or another and tell her that you are wishing her joy and love. Listen to what she has to say.
Put down that Xbox and quit trying to run up the score on a Steelers vs. Bengals game to help you get ready for this Sunday’s game, and go out and see if a neighbor could use help in clearing off a freshly snowed in driveway or send over some of that extra fudge you made a few days ago.
No matter what it is you celebrate this time of year: Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Festivus, or a celebration for getting a few extra days off work. From myself and the rest of us here at NPC – may you all experience the true joys and spirit of this season.
There might be a Steelers win in it from Santa….
