The Steelers have been home since losing to the Ravens in the Wild Card round and can only follow the playoff action on TV like the rest of us.
Steelers Nation had to suffer through another Patriots AFC Championship after they blew out the Colts… again. The only thing that could be more loathsome than that is the win coming from the carries of former Steeler running back and villain, LeGarrette Blount.
Nothing would have been sweeter than to have that guy disappear into the ether following his walking off the field, on his Steelers teammates during the 4th quarter against the Titans, and his subsequent suspension. Unfortunately, Blount was quickly nabbed by the New England Patriots – something that has been hotly contested as being premeditated well before Blount walked on his team.

Blount would flash his playoff magic against the Colts as he ran for 148 yards and 3 TD’s on 30 carries. There’s nothing special about what Blount did – any average back (like Blount) would have had success against that awful Colts defense on Sunday night. The fact that it was Blount and not someone else like Jonas Gray makes the whole ordeal even more souring.
One would hope that the entire Steelers roster would wish for Blount to go jump off a cliff. After all, they were clamoring for his release even before he walked off the field. He was a negative presence in the locker room and had a substantial impact on Le’Veon Bell, his work ethic, and ultimately his performance.
We would all especially hope that Bell would be glad of his removal.
But, much like when two friends are suddenly separated, even when one is found as a “bad influence,” there’s still some adoration. While Blount ran all over the Colts Sunday evening, Bell gleefully tweeted to his followers about his former teammate.
Don’t get me wrong, Bell is his own man and can do whatever he wants (within the law) and feel however he wants. It would have been nice, however, to see this young man acknowledge the situation he was in while Blount was a teammate and quietly move on and away from the entire situation. Why give props to a guy that was a total d-bag to your teammates and held you back as a professional football player?
I doubt they’ll be hanging during the offseason any time soon (then again….). Bell should just write this guy off and move on to better things and better people.
