Steelers MMQB: NFL Offseason News

1 of 7

Nov 23, 2014; Santa Clara, CA, USA; San Francisco 49ers inside linebacker Chris Borland (50) stands on the field against the Washington Redskins in the fourth quarter at Levi

What We Learned This Week in the NFL Offseason:

  • Chris Borland retires after one season in the NFL
  • Raiders pull Raider move; sign Trent Richardson
  • Out of work NFL players workout in Veteran Combine
  • Wes Welker, Michael Crabtree among FA’s still looking for a team
  • Browns front-runners for “Hard Knocks”
  • Colbert talks free agency and draft

The frenzy of trades and signings we saw in the first few days of free agency have long died down and the focus is starting to turn towards April 30th, the date of the first round of  the 2015 NFL Draft. Some NFL players looking for work are working out and running sprints to display their talents and willingness while others are still waiting by the phone for their offers to come in.

The Steelers looked as if they were all done with their signings until Sunday morning came and James Harrison was officially returning to the Black & Gold for what will most likely be the remainder of his NFL career. The Steelers are most likely done with outside signings as far as free agency goes, taking a gamble that all the pieces needed for a successful 2015 season are either on the roster or will be found in the draft.
