NFL players who hit free agency a few weeks ago banking on cashing in on another contract are finding themselves without teams or contracts going into the third week of free agency. Names like Michael Crabtree, Jake Long, Dwight Freeney and Wes Welker are all still unsigned proving that, for the most part, the NFL is a young man’s sport.

The way the salary cap and rookie wage scale was set up in the CBA allows for some players to get big-time contracts like the one Ndamukong Suh signed with Miami, but, for the most part, it favors teams not paying veterans big deals when they can be replaced with cheaper options in the draft. That could leave players like Michael Vick, Reggie Wayne and Greg Jennings either retiring or suiting up for next year’s veteran combine.
