Mike got paid

I kind of had selfish reasons for hoping that at one point the Steelers would be able to acquire Dolphins center Mike Pouncey, twin brother of Steelers All-Pro center Maurkice Pouncey. I’m a twin myself and having twins on the Steelers would be pretty friggin sweet. Especially twins who can play so great on the offensive line.

But, my dreams have been crushed as the Dolphins and Pouncey have agreed to a five-year deal worth more than $50 million with upwards of $20 million in guarantees. Pouncey was on the fifth year option of his rookie deal but the Dolphins decided to restructure to lower his cap hit. Now his deal is an awful lot like the deal Maurkice signed with the Steelers last offseason. Must be a twin thing.
