B.J. Finney, Kansas State, 6’4″, 318 pounds
B. J. Finney has had a bit of a social media push with the video of him announcing his signing to his family, friends and supporters. (Caution: the sound SPIKES when they all cheer.)
He’s a lifelong Steelers fan, so there is a bit of sentimentality there. However, sentimentality doesn’t make you great on the field.
He has what they like to call “intangibles.” His pre-draft write-up on NFL.com says he was elected as team captain three times. So, leadership in the locker room.
The main discussion of his strengths included his hand placement and core strength, while one of his weaknesses was that he has short arms. Take that as you will.
I think you can’t predict someone’s ability to overcome a weakness when they want something bad enough. We’ll have to see how camp goes.
