Ray McDonald can’t stop getting arrested

Sep 14, 2014; Santa Clara, CA, USA; San Francisco 49ers defensive end Ray McDonald (91) looks on during the second quarter of the game against the Chicago Bears at Levi

Ray McDonald was essentially the NFL’s first test case after their new domestic violence policy went into effect last year. Within a week of the policy being laid out McDonald was arrested on domestic violence charges in Santa Clara, CA. He was also later arrested on sexual misconduct charges later that year. The charges on both counts were eventually dropped.

So the Chicago Bears figured they’d take the Cowboys route with McDonald and sign him in spite of his “off-the-field incidents.” Now McDonald was arrested twice last week and cut from the Bears. Perhaps this will serve as a lesson for NFL owners that some players don’t deserve a second chance.
