Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson decided to grace his team with his presence after holding out the beginning of OTAs in the hopes of obtaining a guaranteed contract or a trade. Ironically, by showing up he’ll essentially guarantee his $12 million salary this season and get his $250K bonus for OTA participation.
The former NFL MVP running back has been out of football for a whole season after being charged with child abuse of his four-year-old son. He was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List last season and missed 15 games while collecting his full salary. His legal troubles are behind him after pleading out to much lesser charges.
The Vikings camp is saying all the right things and so is Peterson because, in the end, both parties need each other. The Vikings are a crap team sometimes even with Peterson but they’re a really crappy team without him and Peterson wasn’t going to pass up the bonus money or his salary for this season.
