Maybe I just won’t play at all

Stop me if you heard this one before, a wide receiver is in a contract dispute with his team and is mulling a holdout extending even to Week 1 of the regular season if it is not resolved. Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant stands to make $12.823 million guaranteed under the franchise tag placed on him at the beginning of free agency.

He’ll miss close to $1 million per game of that if he holds out but as told to NFL Media columnist Michael Silver, Bryant confirmed that it’s not a rumor he’d hold out, “it’s legit.” Bryant and the Cowboys have five weeks remaining until the July 15th deadline to sign franchise tagged players to new contracts.

Time will only tell if Bryant is willing to follow through with his threats or if this is just his last-ditch effort to get the Cowboys to the negotiating table before the deadline.
