Home Highlights
If you were planning on taking a trip to Heinz Field this fall the Steelers have announced some key dates you might want to consider for your plans. For instance, Week 4 at home against Baltimore will be the Breast Cancer Awareness/Crucial Catch game along with the night Jerome Bettis will be given his Hall of Fame ring.
Week 8 against the Bengals will be the 40th anniversary celebration of the Terrible Towel and the team will also be wearing the throwback bumble bee uniforms. On Week 10 against the Browns the Steelers will have their Alumni Weekend as well as celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Super Bowl XL victory. Yes, it’s been 10 years.
Bettis picks brother
Jerome Bettis will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 8th and he revealed to the PPG’s Ed Bouchette who will get the honor of presenting him at the enshrinement ceremony. Bettis chose his brother, John Bettis III, to present him into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
"“My brother has been the biggest Steeler fan in the world since we were kids. All he wanted was for me to play for the Steelers, and when that opportunity came there was nobody happier than my brother. He’s been my biggest fan, my biggest supporter my entire career. My father was my obvious first choice and my dad was even trying to prepare for it his later years, but obviously since he’s not here. My brother has been more than willing.” – Jerome Bettis"
Roethlisberger deserves better
The NFL Network revealed the final ten players in their “Top 100 Players of 2015” ranking on Wednesday night. Earlier, however, some of NFL.com’s writers aired their beefs with the ranking; particularly the players they felt were ranked too low.
We’ve already gone over the specifics of how unrealistic the ranking is because it’s not entirely voted on only by the players as advertised and basically sets the network up itself for commentary and discussion for weeks while the rankings are unveiled.
However, it is appreciated to see that more than just Steelers fans were surprised that Ben Roethlisberger was ranked as low as 26. Marc Sessler asked a very important question in,
"“Wait, you’re telling me there are 25 players better than Ben Roethlisberger?!” – Marc Sessler"
NFL writer Dan Hanzus wants to know why Roethlisberger is constantly overlooked in this league. Although he said he wouldn’t put Ben ahead of the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady or Andrew Luck, he’d still put him in the top 10. Guess Ben’s just going to have to break some more passing records this season to get some respect.
