Get to know Lemon
The Steelers signed linebacker Shawn Lemon in the offseason out of the CFL. Mike Prisuta gives us some insight into the 26-year-old NFL rookie. Lemon was undrafted out of Akron in 2011 and since then had bounced from the CFL to arena football before landing with the Calgary Stampeders in 2013.
Lemon won the Grey Cup with the Stampeders last season before they granted his release so he could join the Steelers. His biggest motivation is proving people wrong.
"“People telling me I can’t do something. My whole life I’ve been told that I can’t do stuff and I continue to prove people wrong.” – Shawn Lemon"
When asked why he plays football his answer pretty much signifies why the Steelers brought him on.
"“To sack quarterbacks.” – Shawn Lemon"
He enjoys the bridges of Pittsburgh and his goals for 2015 are to make the team and make an impact.
"“Just to come out in the preseason and solidify myself in the NFL as a pass rusher.” – Shawn Lemon"
Just stay healthy
The Steelers are enjoying their first offseason with no real worries on the offensive line in quite some time. Gerry Dulac of the PPG reminds us that with all the injuries for previous years the line was constantly a question mark on the team.
This season they’ll have all five starters returning and returning with positive momentum from an improved running game and an improvement in limiting the times Ben Roethlisberger is sacked. While the right side of the line is as solid as ever with Maurkice Pouncey and David DeCastro working healthy together, the left side is a bit thin at depth with no one really in line behind Ramon Foster.
Ike gets hitched
Ladies, you’ve officially missed your chance with former Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor. The recently retired Taylor got hitched this week and invited his former teammates to share in the celebration. Here are some pictures of the blessed event from William Gay‘s Instagram.
