Five things to look for in Steelers training camp

By the end of this week the Steelers will be packing up their pillows and TV sets for move-in day at Saint Vincent. Ed Bouchette of the PPG gives us five things to look for once camp opens. The first one is obvious; how will Keith Butler do as Steelers defensive coordinator? He’s following some big footsteps in Dick LeBeau so he might have the most pressure this season.

The second thing to look for is the wide receiver group. Antonio Brown is the undisputed leader of the bunch but how to the roles work out of the remainder of the group? Another interesting storyline will be the running backs. Who rises to the occasion when Le’Veon Bell has to sit out the first three games?

It will also be noteworthy to see if anyone else gets a new contract from now until the season kicks off. Cameron Heyward just received a six-year extension worth $59.25 million but will anybody else receive a new contract before the Steelers travel to Foxboro?

On top of everything else it definitely is worth pointing out that the Steelers get essentially an extra week of preparation and an extra preseason game as they’ll be featured in the Hall of Fame game this preseason. Tomlin is known for giving guys with “contusions of the birth certificate” days off during camp but he’s got mostly young guys on his hands now.
