Aug 12, 2015; New York, NY, USA; New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady enters federal court for a hearing over the legality of Brady

What We Learned in Week 1 of the NFL Preseason

  • Court artist entertains us all with Brady drawing
  • The Jets are a ridiculous mess
  • San Diego overpays for mediocrity
  • The preseason is Tebow Time
  • Deebo says no to participation trophies
  • Gradkowski returns from the PUP list

Football is back. Well, not real football, but it will do for now. The preseason is officially here complete with unreasonable expectations and overreactions. It’s hard to remember that final scores and records don’t count for anything because score is kept, but scores and records don’t count for anything.

For a NFL head coach a preseason game is like a checklist instead a contest that has a winner and loser. The coach is looking to check things off of his list, he’s looking for his players to be in specific scenarios that camp can’t provide but the playbook is barely cracked open and no preparation on the opponents is done.

The good NFL teams will get their checklist completed in the preseason and build their regular season roster that will complement their strengths and hide their weaknesses. A bad NFL team will have their starting quarterback sucker punched and out 6-10 weeks.

Sorry for not making him good-looking enough

Roger Goodell and Tom Brady were in federal court this week to keep this never-ending DeflateGate soap opera ongoing. The best thing to come out of this whole debacle since those text messages between the two numbnuts Patriots equipment guys has got to be the courtroom artist’s awful drawing of Tom Brady.

The image sparked nonstop memes and hilarious hijinks ensued. Let’s stop and take a moment to realize that this deflated ball scandal has actually gotten to the point where the NFL’s commissioner and most famous and prolific quarterback are sitting in federal court unwilling to budge on their respective stances.

That’s ridiculous. I might be ready for this to end now. Until then, here’s a look at some of the best memes to come from this atrocious drawing. The artist actually came out and apologized for not making Brady attractive enough in the drawing. That’s rather ridiculous itself.

Next: That's so Jets
