He’s baaaaaaack! The Tim Tebow era for the Philadelphia Eagles officially began on Sunday in their first preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. The Eagles held Sam Bradford out of the game so after Mark Sanchez and Matt Barley were done it was officially Tebow Time.

Tebow entered the game to a standing ovation, which proves that Eagles fans are just idiots and again proves my previous point about appreciating it when you have a legit franchise quarterback on your team. If Tebow is on your squad as a fourth-string quarterback and you give him a standing ovation in his preseason debut it doesn’t exactly portray a vote of confidence in the three guys ahead of him on the depth chart.

Tebow finished the game with going 6-of-12 for 69 yards and 15 rushing yards that included a seven-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. Those numbers were against players on the Colts who will never see a minute of regular season action so take them with a grain of salt.

There’s no question that even without seeing any kind of NFL action since 2013 Tebow is still a pretty popular guy but hopefully the Eagles faithful realize that it is absolutely unheard of for a team to carry four quarterbacks on their 53-man roster and even though the Eagles can’t really say for surezies that they have their answer at quarterback it’s fairly likely that Tebow won’t be getting standing ovations in the regular season.
