Steelers: Super Bowl 50 Champs in Madden 16
By Kim Myers
Get ready to get pumped up Steeler Nation! Madden 16 by EA Sports is set for the release date of Aug. 25th but the trailer has come out and depicts your Pittsburgh Steelers as champions of Super Bowl 50.
The intro lasting a little over six minutes features the Steelers battling the Arizona Cardinals for Super Bowl 50 in a rematch of Super Bowl XLIII and it’s bound to pump up any fan regardless of their video game prowess.
A few inaccuracies in the preview are definitely worth pointing out. First off, the game features
Antonio Brownmatching up against Cardinals cornerback
Patrick Petersonand Brown showing frustrations from being held. No way Brown isn’t double covered in the friggin Super Bowl.
The next plays shows
Ben Roethlisbergerconnecting to
Martavis Bryantwith a big score, which is what would definitely happen if Brown is double covered and not able to make a play. I’d still have complete faith in Brown’s abilities to make catches even if Peterson was on him like a backpack.
Then, there’s the feature of both Carson Palmer and Shaun Suisham. Suisham is already out for the year after having ACL surgery so unfortunately he’d be unavailable in Super Bowl 50 anyway. Then there’s the fact that Carson Palmer is starting for the Cardinals. No way Palmer makes it through the entire season and playoffs without tearing his knee or shoulder up for the 147th time. I’m not buying it.
Cortez Allen comes up with a big play to make an interception and return it for a touchdown. Stranger things have happened. I’m willing to buy that for optimism’s sake.
Then Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown connect on the Super Bowl winning touchdown pass and it’s a thing of beauty.
Here we go Steelers! Here we go!
