Steelers training camp always draws large crowds for practices and autograph sessions but it was estimated that around 5,000 fans showed up at the opening day of Steelers training camp practice to attend the celebration marking the team’s 50th camp held at Saint Vincent College. The Steelers honored players from the last five decades in a ceremony on the field prior to the start of the first practice. Steelers president Art Rooney II as well as chairman Dan Rooney were present for the ceremony to celebrate the team’s 50-year relationship with Saint Vincent College.

The Steelers drum line came out and lead the way for the players to make their first trek down the hill from the weight room and cafeteria to their first practice of the season. The team would have an extra week of training camp due to their participation in the Hall of Fame game.
