Steelers lose: Who is to blame?
By Tim Weaver
2. Michael Vick
How much can you blame a quarterback who has had exactly three days to prepare to face one of the NFL’s best defenses in a bitter rivalry game on national television?
A lot apparently.
This morning Michael Vick is getting a lot of flak over the pass on fourth down that he missed, and it’s not hard to see why. Then again, my mind keeps coming back to this play in the middle of the second quarter.
Watch Vick drop a perfect dime right into Antonio Brown’s bread basket in the end zone:
Nine times out of ten Brown does make that catch, but he didn’t. If he had, Scobee would never have been put into a situation where he was responsible for the outcome of the game.
Plenty of people are blaming Vick for missing Brown in overtime, but nobody is bringing this one up.
Overall I think Vick had a solid performance considering his limited experience with the offense. He was relatively accurate and didn’t commit any big turnovers as he’d been known to do in the past. If you’re looking for a scapegoat, you’ll need to try harder…
