BA is back
Teresa Varley has the scoop with Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians, formerly Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator, on how he feels about returning to Heinz Field in the visitor’s locker room.
"“Well, it’s really not the first, because I came back for a preseason game the year after I left with Indianapolis. So, I’ve been in that visitor’s locker room a number of times. It won’t be totally new to me.” – Bruce Arians"
Well, Bruce, to be perfectly honest that was a pretty boring answer.
Oh Pouncey no
The PPG’s Ed Bouchette delivers some bad news for Steelers fans regarding Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey. He was eligible to return to practice next week from the short-term injured reserve list but, due to an infection stemming from his summer ankle surgery, he’s in danger of missing the entire season.
The infection will cause Pouncey to require a second surgery and will likely keep him out the remainder of the year. Pouncey is seeking a second opinion and the Steelers can still keep him on the short-term injured reserve list, in the hopes he could return for a potential playoff run.
Now let’s hear it from all the fans who can’t bend down to tie their shoes how Pouncey is too injury prone to ever live up to his potential. Like somehow he caused an infection in his surgically repaired ankle.
Fun matchup
Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown always draws coverage from the top cornerback on the opposing team and this weekend we’ll be treated to the matchup of Brown versus Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler describes five reasons why this will be a fun matchup to watch including Peterson’s aggressive play and how Brown may be able to bait him with stop-and-go plays as well as the likelihood that Peterson will be covering Brown one-on-one for a good part of the game.
Considering Brown has only 87 receiving yards in the last two games with Michael Vick at quarterback, this may just turn out to be a fun matchup on paper as opposed to how the game will actually play out.
