Tiny tear

Steelers quarterback Landry Jones may be still the man of the hour in Pittsburgh but the quarterback situation for this Sunday’s game against the Chiefs certainly isn’t decided yet. While Ben Roethlisberger is trying to return to the lineup this week, Michael Vick may be exiting with his hamstring injury.

Josh Alper of PFT explains that Vick showed test results to Aditi Kinkhabwala of NFL Media that shows a “tiny tear” in Vick’s hamstring. The Steelers return to the practice field on Wednesday so there likely won’t be anything decided about his playing availability until at least then.

Harrison has got your back

If you were watching Mike Mitchell’s win-sealing end-zone interception yesterday you may have noticed Steelers linebacker James Harrison fly through your screen and lay Cardinals wide receiver John Brown out. Harrison told the Trib’s Ken Laird that he didn’t agree with the unnecessary roughness penalty called on him on the play and may have to “raise hell” if he gets a fine from the league for it.

Harrison was blocking Brown from going for Mitchell, who hadn’t been touched yet after catching the ball after a collision with Steelers cornerback Ross Cockrell. James Harrison had the Steelers’ only sack yesterday plus a forced fumble and was in the weight room on Monday morning like nothing. He might be insane. Glad he’s on our side.

He saw it coming

A healthy Mike Mitchell is a world apart from the version Steelers fans saw last season. On Sunday he got his first interception as a Steeler, thanks to his instincts on what he saw in Arizona’s formation on a fourth  quarter play that sealed the win over the Cardinals.

Jacob Klinger of Penn Live says that Mitchell saw the interception coming based on where Cardinals’ wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald lined up. He knew that Fitzgerald was basically playing decoy and the play was going to Brown so he dropped back and found himself in perfect position.
