Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger to return?

Against the Chiefs, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was listed as questionable, causing an uproar of fans with differing opinions to explode all over social media with the idea of Ben’s return looming in the air.

As it’s clear now, Roethlisberger did not play, and was forced to watch a fairly crummy performance from the backup of his backup, Landry Jones. While Jones gave a valiant effort in one of the hardest NFL stadiums to play in, he fell short, and costly turnovers dug his grave.

With that loss, the Steelers have dropped down to 4-3, and are barely in the lead of a heated AFC wild-card chase as we head into the second half of the season. Looking at the division, the Bengals have stolen the show, and unless the Steelers take the game this weekend, the Bengals stranglehold could be permanent.

The Steelers and Bengals play in a pivotal matchup this weekend, home, at Heinz Field. What a perfect time for Big Ben to emerge from injury.

Mike Tomlin has made it clear that the Steelers are comfortable with where Ben is at the moment, and that he is progressing day by day. Whether or not this means he’ll be ready for game time is a different thing.

The Steelers will surely want to avoid another injury to Big Ben, and it’s also fair to point out that he may struggle against a strong Bengals defense if he’s still on the mend, though, Ben is tough as nails.

This weekend’s game is by far the biggest game of the season, and a victory would be huge for the Steelers, while a loss could be detrimental.

With the hardest schedule in the NFL, each game is extremely vital for Pittsburgh, and after a bitter loss against a struggling Chiefs squad, the Steelers need to get back into their winning ways, and what better formula is there to victory than the return of the star quarterback.

If Roethlisberger does play Sunday, expect emotions to run high, terrible towels to be waving ferociously, and a whole ton of energy coming from Pittsburgh, hopefully enough to relay them to a win.
