The Steelers are looking to rebound from a loss in Kansas City and hope to get Ben Roethlisberger back from knee injury in time to the face division-rival Cincinnati Bengals. While they’re preparing for their three-game home stand we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Tuesday, Oct. 27th.
How’d he do?
They say that coming off of the bench is much easier than starting the game. Steelers quarterback Landry Jones proved that to be true on Sunday as he wasn’t quite able to match the intensity or quality of his performance when he stepped into the Arizona game last week. Mike Prisuta has team quotes on how Jones did in his first NFL start.
"“Jones was a guy that was poised, a guy that knew what he was doing. I think he put out some good tape. He was already talking about what he could have done, what he should have done, so that’s very encouraging.” – Ramon Foster“I thought he played a good game. Obviously, there are some plays he’d like to have back but they’re not his fault. I thought he called a good game. He made some checks, some audibles. Really proud of the way he stepped up in a hostile environment and played well.” – Ben Roethlisberger“I thought he did really well.” – Antonio Brown"
Tight end issue
The Steelers have had a tight end problem so far this season. It started with getting burned repeatedly by Tom Brady connecting with Rob Gronkowski repeatedly in the opening game, continued with Philip Rivers hitting up Antonio Gates and on Sunday Chiefs’ tight ends Travis Kelce had five catches for 73 yards.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler explains that Cincinnati’s Andy Dalton and tight end Tyler Eifert were probably watching that game foaming at the mouth with excitement to go up against this defense this week. The Steelers would be best served to start getting more physical with the tight ends earlier in the game or they’ll keep getting burned.
Save us, Ben
The Steelers went 2-2 in Ben Roethlisberger’s absence and while that is probably better than some other teams who have franchise quarterbacks would have fared it still seems like it’s almost time to panic. The PPG’s Ed Bouchette tells us the chances of Ben riding into Heinz Field on his Black & Gold horse and saving the day.
Without starting practice yet Steelers coach Mike Tomlin assured that going forward it’s time to go back to Ben.
"“We’ll move forward with Ben as we prepare this week.” – Mike Tomlin"
