The Steelers are ready for a little AFC North home action today against the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals. The last time these two teams played each other resulted in a 27-17 win for the Steelers and an AFC North division title.
The Steelers have won the previous three meetings between the two teams and today’s game will be the 90th meeting between the two franchises. The Steelers, coming off of a road loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, are hoping the return of Ben Roethlisberger will mean a return to the offensive explosion the likes of which started about this time last season.
The Steelers defense will look to try to stop Andy Dalton and the Bengals offensive weapons including A.J. Green, Tyler Eifert, Jeremy Hill and Marvin Jones. With Brandon Boykin looking to crack the lineup for the first time this season due to a William Gay injury the secondary will look a little different this week.
The Bengals are coming off of their bye week and are looking to make a statement against the Steelers, who swept them last season. The Bengals are looking to be taken seriously as an elite team while probably trying to secure a first-round bye considering that’s likely the only way they will ever be able to survive the first weekend of the playoffs.
It’s a big game with definite playoff implications going down on the North Shore today and the Steelers are looking for Ben Roethlisberger to be the difference maker as Antonio Brown described during the practice week.
"“Getting Ben Roethlisberger back, that is going to be key. We know what he is capable of from a physical and mental standpoint. He is a difference maker. It’s always great when he is out there.” – Antonio Brown"
