Steelers power rankings: Where they fit Week 10

facebooktwitterreddit

Could the 2015 NFL season possibly go by any faster? After Monday night’s “showdown” between the Bears and Chargers, the regular season schedule is now more than half finished.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have seen a lot of highs and lows this year.

Thrilling wins against San Diego and Oakland have also come hand in hand with frustrating losses to St. Louis and Kansas City, plus a ton of injuries. Le’Veon Bell is out for the season. Ben Roethlisberger can’t stay in the lineup. Pittsburgh’s offensive line has also felt the sting a couple of times.

Where are the Steelers in relation to the other teams around the league heading into Week 10? Let’s check in on the weekly power rankings online.

More from Still Curtain

NFL.com: #9

“Coolest play of the Steelers’ big winover the Raiders on Sunday — even better than Martavis Bryant’s triple-move touchdown or, well, everything Antonio Brown did in his 500-yard game — had to be DeAngelo Williams’ 50-plus-yard jauntdown the left sideline”

ESPN: #9

“No Ben Roethlisberger, no Le’Veon Bell, no problem? Maybe this week. The Steelers are 14-2 at home against the Browns since the team returned to Cleveland in 1999.”

Yahoo Sports: #8

“Hopefully Antonio Brown doesn’t disappear again now that Ben Roethlisberger will miss some time. Getting 17 catches for 284 yards shouldn’t be possible in an NFL game. Great player.”

USA Today: #18

“They stayed afloat without Le’Veon Bell. They stayed afloat without Ben Roethlisberger. Can they possibly do it sans both?”

SB Nation: #9

“The win didn’t come cheap though, and Ben Roethlisberger will miss at least one game, maybe more, with a foot injury.”

CBS Sports: #14

“Losing Ben Roethlisberger for any length of time could end their playoff hopes. Their schedule is brutal the next five weeks.”

Pro Football Focus: #11

“Wide receiver Antonio Brown has 10 catches and 401 yards on deep passes.”

If you have been following Still Curtain’s weekly check in on these rankings then you have probably seen this pattern before. A number of sites are entirely too high on the Steelers (seriously, #8 Yahoo?), while others are way off the mark underestimating them (18 from USA Today.)

Next: Steelers News: Jones, Mitchell, James

Right now it’s hard to see the Steelers as a playoff team with both Roethlisberger and Bell out but then again DeAngelo Williams has been a revelation and Pittsburgh has won before with Landry Jones.

For my money, CBS’s #14 ranking is the most accurate. How about you?
