Steelers’ season: road to the playoffs

There is no doubt that the Pittsburgh Steelers’ bye week came at the right time. With several injuries and six tough games to close out the season, the chance for a week off came when it was most needed.

After scrambling to a 6-4 record, the Steelers remain in good position to secure a playoff spot. However, their remaining schedule is not an easy one.

While the Seahawks and Colts have struggled so far this year, these two teams still present unique challenges for the Steelers. Both teams have young, talented quarterbacks that can win any given Sunday. They also each have athletic tight ends–the kind of players that have caused trouble for the Steeler secondary this season.

The Steelers will have a difficult game on the road against the Seahawks after this week’s bye. One of the league’s biggest home field advantages will be waiting for them.

The Broncos have perhaps the best defense in the NFL. The Steelers are lucky that their matchup against Denver comes at home.

So far, the Steelers are 1-2 in the division. This is not a good sign considering they have three more division games, and they are all on the road. The Browns and Ravens may be struggling, but that hasn’t always meant an easy game for the Steelers.

While, Steelers fans might be feeling pretty good about the season so far, there is still a lot of tough football left to be played. The Steelers have certainly done well considering the amount and severity of injuries that the team has had to endure, but at the end of the day that won’t get you into the playoffs.

The rest of the 2015 season will be an uphill battle for the Steelers. They’ll get the rest they need this week, then, it’s on to Seattle.
