In contrast, there is the case of Emmanuel Sanders. Sanders had success with the Steelers, but was somewhat hindered by a crowded field of receivers. Unlike Holmes and Wallace, Sanders has enjoyed greater success with his new team than he did with the Steelers. What’s the difference?

There are a few differences, but what I consider to be the main ones are quarterback play and offensive involvement. When Holmes went to the Jets and Wallace to the Dolphins, they experienced significant drop off in quarterback talent.

Sanders moved to Denver where, at the time, Peyton Manning was enjoying some of the greatest success of his career. Manning was at least as talented as Roethlisberger when Sanders arrived in town and Sanders also had the benefit of hopping into a pass-happy offense with a greater role.
