Three things the Steelers must do to beat the Bengals

2. Double up on A.J. Green

All in all, the Steelers defense did a solid job of slowing down Cincinnati’s offense, which is one of the best in the NFL. For the season the Bengals are averaging 376.3 yards per game and 27.8 points (only three teams average more.)

In that last meeting Pittsburgh held them to just 16 points and 296 yards.

The guy that did the most damage was their superstar wide receiver, A.J. Green, who managed 118 yards and a touchdown.

At this point in the year it’s clear that the Steelers do not have a cornerback who is capable of covering Green one on one, so the best way to stop him will be to bracket him with two defenders. Keith Butler should keep one corner and one safety on Green in every passing situation.

If Mohamad Sanu or Marvin Jones winds up beating the defense, so be it. You can’t let Green do it again.
