Steelers game day grub: Hoagie dip

facebooktwitterreddit

The Steelers head to Cincinnati to take on the AFC-leading Bengals in some AFC North road action so how about some game day grub to feast on for the game.

The Steelers face quite possibly the most important game of the season on Sunday in the hopes of keeping their playoff dreams alive. The Steelers held Cincinnati’s offense to just 16 points in a disappointing loss in November. If they can hold Andy Dalton again hopefully they can come away with a win this time.

It’s that time of the year when holiday parties are filling up your weekends and you might be running out of things to bring.  This recipe can do double duty as a tailgating or home-gating snack or a dish to bring to a relative’s house to a holiday party.

It’s quick, easy and tasty. Everything you want in a game day grub recipe. Sure it’s easy to stop at the hoagie shop on the way to the game but if you make hoagie dip, you don’t have to buy hoagies for all your friends.

Hoagie dip has everything you like on a cold Italian hoagie, all the Italian deli meats; capicola, salami, prosciutto and any other meats you so desire to include. You’ll chop the meat up into bite-sized pieces. You’ll also do the same with some cheeses; you can use provolone, mozzarella or any other cheeses. Also chopped up into bite-sized pieces.

You’ll want to also include everything else you like on an Italian hoagie like shredded lettuce, tomatoes (use the grape or cherry tomatoes; halved), banana peppers and any other toppings. You’ll also want your favorite Italian dressing or vinaigrette. You can make one yourself with some olive oil, red wine vinegar, some Dijon mustard and salt and pepper.

To assemble you take a large round of bread and hollow it out into a bread bowl. Cut the bread that you removed into bite-sized pieces and fill the inside of the bread bowl with all of your hoagie fixings all mixed together, including the dressing.
