The Steelers return to practice to prepare to face the Denver Broncos for their final home game of the season.

While the team hits the practice field on the South Side we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Wednesday, Dec. 16th.

No respect

Ben Roethlisberger joined The Cook and Poni Show on 93.7 The Fan on Tuesday to reflect on the 33-20 win over the Bengals and he talked about Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict’s low hit.

"“He said, ‘I got pushed into you, my bad.’ and the official just kind of nodded like, ‘Yeah ok.’ So, I just went about my day, didn’t think anything of it…I turned my phone on afterwards and one of the texts I got from a former player and a friend of mine says, ‘How is that not a fine or a penalty on Burfict?’ And he showed me the clip of it. And since then, I have seen the clip, and I don’t buy that he was pushed. You know, I think that he definitely was diving in low and going for my legs.” – Ben Roethlisberger"

Roethlisberger added that it’s tough to respect a player that has no regard for professionalism in the game. He noted how the mood from the Bengals players spread to the fans in the stadium.

More from Steelers News

"“It’s tough. There’s got to be a level of professionalism when you play guys…It trickles into the fans too. At one point, when I think Will Allen and I think Steve McLendon kind of ran into each other, they were on the ground and the Bengals fans were cheering and I just remember looking around like, ‘That’s sad.’ You know, because that’s not what it’s about. I understand you want to win a football game, but you never want guys to get hurt. We’re out here for the entertainment and to play a game, not to try to injure each other.” – Ben Roethlisberger"

So you’re saying there’s a chance?

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin takes to the podium each Tuesday and every Tuesday this season he’s been asked about an update for center Maurkice Pouncey. Up until this Tuesday Tomlin would only say that there was no update but as Gerry Dulac of the PPG points out, Tomlin said for the first time that he hasn’t counted the possibility of Pouncey returning out before the end of the regular season.

Pouncey has been on the short-term injured reserve list and could return at any point now since we’re passed the eighth week of the season. For the first time this season Tomlin said that he was only counting Pouncey out for this week’s game against the Broncos, but not farther than that. Sounds promising.

The right place at the right time

William Gay had an epic celebration after he caught his franchise-record-tying sixth pick-six and Teresa Varley tells us how Steelers coach Mike Tomlin explains that Gay has gotten to this point by way of his preparation, both mentally and physically.

"“Will is a guy that is always highly prepared, always does a nice job of playing the game from an above the neck standpoint. When you are a guy who is consistently where you are supposed to be and seeing what you are supposed to see, you are generally opportunistic. I think he really embodies that. The older he gets, the more it is highlighted.” – Mike Tomlin"
