The Steelers take the field today against the Cleveland Browns hoping it won’t be for the last time this season.
While the team gets ready for some AFC North road action and scoreboard watching we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Sunday, Jan. 3rd.
That’s a lot of interceptions

Steelers quarterback
has been having a pretty good season this year, even with having missed a few games due to injury.
Ray Fittipaldo of the PPG reminds us
that Roethlisberger was voted to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time in his career for averaging 326 passing yards per game, a career high.
Unfortunately for the Steelers, another career high Roethlisberger is close to is his interceptions. In eleven games this season Roethlisberger has tossed 14 interceptions. His touchdown to interception ratio has him ranked with the likes of rookie quarterbacks like Marcus Mariota and Jameis Winston.
Last season, Roethlisberger posted his best touchdown to interception ratios last season (32 to 9). Roethlisberger is attempting way more passes this season than ever before and his injuries could have a lot to do with his interceptions. The Steelers live and die on the arm of Roethlisberger, let’s just hope this season’s interceptions is an outlier and not a sign of things to come.
Looking for redemption
Steelers receiver Martavis Bryant has been going through a little bit of a slump. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler explains that he’s listed on the injury report as questionable with an illness but should play in the regular season finale in Cleveland.
He could use the redemption after going three games without a touchdown when he started his NFL career scoring 15 in his first 17 games. Had he played a full season without suspension he’d probably be looking at a 1,000-yard season but more importantly, he could make up for a dropped ball in the final minutes of last week’s 20-17 loss to Baltimore, which could have given the Steelers at least the chance to kick a game-tying field goal.

Coming on strong
Mike Prisuta tells us that Steelers defensive coordinator Keith Butler says it took a while for cornerback Brandon Boykin to learn and get a good handle on what is expected of him on defense but he’s worked very hard from training camp to be able to contribute when he can.
"“I try to find the positive in everything. I learned a lot this year about myself, about just controlling what I can control. The way everything played out, when I got my opportunity I made the most of it. I’m just trying to capitalize on that every single game.” – Brandon Boykin"
Boykin got the Steelers’ only sack in last week’s loss to Baltimore and is the seventh member of the defense this season to register a sack, an interception and a pass defended. Let’s hope he gets all three again today against the Browns.
