Steelers: Week 17 Team Quotes and Comments
By Zack Goncz

Steelers have some things to say after their playoff clinching week 17 win against the Browns
Well, I have some good news. And you already know it, we’re in the playoffs! The Steelers won and got themselves into the playoffs. Also, the Bills won and got the Steelers into the playoffs. Thanks guys.
It wasn’t pretty. Particularly the early part was rough. The early three quarters. The Steelers have been underperforming in the past couple weeks and are going to need to fix that in the next few days. On the plus side the Steelers sometimes play to the level of their competition so the playoffs could really be a good environment for them.
But then there’s who is going to play running back in Cincinnati. It may be Williams. ESPN reported his MRI came back clean. It’s likely a minor sprain so he could be back.
But it doesn’t matter right now. It doesn’t matter that the game was ugly, that the Browns hung around three quarters, that the team hasn’t been playing too hot for a couple weeks, that we’re not sure who the running back is. What matters is that the Bills won!
And when I say the Bills won, I mean the Jets lost. And when I say the Jets lost, I mean the Steelers won. After the Jets lost the Steelers were given, deserved or not after last week, another chance to get in the playoffs by beating a fairly poor divisional opponent. This time they won though.
There were a few turnovers but other than that the Steelers played a solid game. The usual passing yards bonanza, much of it going to Antonio Brown, an even bigger share than we’re accustomed to. The run game was slowed by injury but the defense had a very good game with turnovers and their highest sack total of the season with 7.
They finished with 48 sacks by the way. First time since 2010 over 40.
But anyway, let’s get to business and hear from the gang.
Playoffs
The AP reported, per Fox Sports, that Antonio Brown said, “Sitting here as a Pittsburgh Steeler, that’s the expectation to make the playoffs and hoist the Lombardi. For us to get an opportunity to go back, it’s a step in the right direction.”

Cam Heyward was all business, saying, “Our record is 0-0-0. No wins, no losses, and no ties. All we can do is focus on getting the win now.”
Teresa Varley of Steelers.com quoted Arthur moats as saying, “So then the defense goes out on the field for the last drive and we knew the Jets had the ball back. In the middle of one of our plays we heard the crowd go crazy. It wasn’t a big play or anything like that and we were just looking around, wondering what happened, and knowing we have to stop them on this last play. We got off the field and everybody was hugging us and we are like, ‘Are we in?’ The guys on the sidelines confirmed what the fans let everyone know.”
DeAngelo Williams
Mike Tomlin said, as reported by Mercury News Daily, regarding the extent of the injury, “We don’t know the extent of that.”
Jacob Klinger of PennLive.com quoted Darius Heyward-Bey answering if the Steelers can still be effective without Williams, and he said, “We can. That’s if we don’t have him, but hopefully he’s back there so we can utilize his skill set. But if not, we’ll be just fine.”
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler quoted Markus Wheaton as saying, “Obviously we want DeAngelo, but we will embrace the challenge if he’s not in there. We’ll want the ball.”
