While the film is broken down and the plan is set into motion we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Tuesday, Jan. 5th.

Williams MRI

More from Steelers News

Week 17 hasn’t been kind to Steelers running backs the last two years. Last season we watched

Le’Veon Bell

go down in Week 17 against the Bengals and not be available for the Wild Card game against the Ravens the following week. Sunday Steelers fans watched in horror as

DeAngelo Williams

rolled on the ground in Cleveland clutching his right ankle in pain.

ESPN reported late on Monday that the MRI Williams had showed no major structural damage and he is going to be day-to-day leading up to Saturday’s game.

Williams has proven himself to be one of the best free agency acquisitions the Steelers have made in both his production on the field, his contributions to the community and his presence on the team. Here’s hoping he’s healthy enough to contribute to a Steelers win on Saturday night.

AJ or Andy?

The Bengals are dealing with injury problems of their own as quarterback Andy Dalton hopes Monday to have his cast removed from his right hand he injured while making a tackle during the last meeting between the Steelers and Bengals.

ESPN News reports that the Bengals started their week preparing for AJ McCarron to start the game. McCarron has started the last three games for the Bengals and hasn’t thrown an interception in any of his three starts.

Just what he wanted

Ray Fittipaldo of the PPG reminds us that Steelers tackle Marcus Gilbert specifically asked Santa Claus for a Steelers vs. Bengals playoff matchup. In a now-deleted tweet Gilbert wrote:

"“All I want for Christmas is the Bengals. Would love to see them in the playoffs when they choke. The talking is done between the lines.” – Marcus Gilbert"

The “choking” Gilbert refers to obviously is the fact that the Bengals haven’t won a playoff game since 1990. Also bad news for the Bengals is they’ve lost 14 of the last 17 games against the Steelers at Paul Brown Stadium.

The Steelers and Bengals accounted for almost $150,000 worth of fines following their last game. Certainly Saturday night will be a spirited grudge match.
