The Steelers fought and got help to get into the playoffs and their reward is a rematch with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Steelers have some AFC North road action for the Wild Card round and if you think back exactly ten years ago their path to Super Bowl XL began the exact same way. They were the sixth seed in the playoffs and started it off against Cincy on the road with Peyton Manning up next if they won.

This is actually the only other time these two teams will face off in the post season. The Steelers lead the overall regular season series 56-35 and lead the postseason series 1-0. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is 5-4 in the playoffs while Bengals coach Marvin Lewis is 0-6.

These two teams met less than a month ago in Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati with the Steelers coming out with a 33-20 win. Bengals starting quarterback Andy Dalton was injured on their opening drive after he attempted to tackle Steelers defensive end Stephon Tuitt, who had just picked him off in the red zone.

This time around the Bengals will go with A.J. McCarron under center who has only started three regular season games but does have big-game experience, winning back-to-back National Championships at Alabama. The Steelers, on the other hand, have their own injury concerns with running back DeAngelo Williams suffering a foot injury in the regular season finale.

To make up for the possibility of a diminished rushing attack the Steelers are going to need all hands on deck from their wide receivers and that includes Martavis Bryant, who was called out by Ben Roethlisberger earlier in the week.

Bryant responded favorably and, according to Mike Prisuta, is grateful for the message from his leader.

"“It was good for him to challenge me. I’m going to accept it. He’s the leader of the team. If he feels like you need to step your game it’s his job to call you out. I’m happy he did. It woke me up and get back to work.” – Martavis Bryant"

Not sure why Bryant was asleep for the last few games of the season with a playoff chance on the line but hopefully he’s good-to-go for Saturday night.
